PDC Affiliate Teacher Program

We are dedicated to promoting sustainable living through education and training in permaculture. If you are passionate about permaculture and are interested in becoming a permaculture education affiliate teacher, you have come to the right place. Our application process is simple and straightforward.

Qualified Permaculture Designers can make money helping students through the online PDC Course and other courses. The requirements for Affiliate Teachers include completion of an internationally-recognized 72-hour PDC Course and 5+ years of experience in Permaculture Design. Affiliate Teachers will have a special designation in the Permaculture Education Directory, allowing students to choose them as their instructors.

HOW TO APPLY TO BE A PERMACULTURE EDUCATION AFFILIATE TEACHER:

  1. Complete your directory profile by registering as a teacher in the directory (you must meet the requirements).
  2. If you are interested in applying to be a Permaculture Education Affiliate Teacher, check the option on your profile page in the Directory.
  3. Click through the verification forms and certify the information.
  4. Upload the necessary documents. Your application will be sent to our Board for review, and you will receive a welcome email when approved.
  5. Once approved, your profile in the Directory will show that you are available as a PDC Course Affiliate Teacher.

HOW IT WORKS

Students enrolling in the online PDC Course can choose their teacher in the Choose Your Teacher PDC Course. After 30 days (the refund period offered to all students), teachers will be sent $200 for each student who chooses them as their PDC Course Teacher.

Teachers’ criteria for the supported learning course version are:

  • Affiliate Teachers will have access to the Learning Management System on PermacultureEducation.org and will be given access to information when their application is approved. When students enroll and choose them as their Teacher from the Directory, the Teacher will receive an email notification with the student’s name and email address.
  • The Teacher is expected to welcome the student with an email sent through the Learning Management System, answer any student questions, offer extra support via Skype or Zoom if needed, guide students through the PDC Course curriculum as needed, and perform a review of each student’s PDC Final Design Project.
  • Teachers will email instructors@PermacultureEducation.org with an assessment of each student’s Final Design Project and any suggestions for improving the design to ensure the highest-quality result: A feasible, integrated Permaculture Design that is in line with the Permaculture Ethics, showing definitive evidence of the Permaculture Principles and knowledge gained from the official 72-hour PDC Curriculum.
  • At least three qualified Permaculture Teachers must review the final Design Projects. In the Choose Your Teacher PDC Course, PDC Final Design Projects will be reviewed by the chosen teacher and 2 team member Instructors of the Permaculture Education Board. After the teacher reviews the final design project, approval will be sent to the chosen teacher with any additional suggestions for the design. In the case that a submitted student Final Design Project is deficient and does not meet the minimum requirements (A feasible, integrated Permaculture Design that is in line with the Permaculture Ethics, showing definitive evidence of the Permaculture Principles and knowledge gained from the official 72-hour PDC Curriculum), the chosen Teacher will work with the student to help them complete and resubmit a working, integrated Permaculture Design.
