Permaculture Economics – Beyond Circular Economy

|

We need a new economic system! Our lives are dominated by a system of laws and policies that are designed to financially benefit the few.

Some of the results of societies operating under this flawed global economic structure are corrupt government officials, unaccountable multinational corporations, globalization, forced mass migration, inequality, insecurity, and environmental destruction.

Supporters of the status quo say that all of these problems can be solved by more economic growth. More extraction of natural resources, more production, more consumption, more industrial farming, more highways, etc.

This worn-out argument is an insult to the rest of civilization who must bear the costs of this nonsensical, degenerative path. Support for the current global economic system is crumbling, due to a well-informed population and its growing refusal to accept outdated laws and institutions that benefit a few, while hindering the well-being of the majority of humanity and the environment.

People everywhere are becoming aware that our current economic system is no longer sustainable, and that we are long overdue for a redesign.

What does “a new economics” look like? Circular Economy is the latest trend in a long line of “new economics” models. However, experts realize it is possible to go beyond Circular Economy to a model that provides abundance for all – People, Planet, and Future.

Join us for a lively seminar discussion to learn more!

In this seminar, we provide an introduction to the latest trends in the “new economics”, with a focus on “Circular Economy”, which is gaining in popularity across Europe and the West. We then go beyond Circular Economy to discuss the need for economic relocalization and how the ecological discipline of Permaculture Design addresses this.
