Permaculture Designers Wanted!

Join the Global Permaculture Professionals Directory

Permaculture Design Consulting

We routinely receive requests for Permaculture Design consulting from people all over the world. Unfortunately, finding a designer to work within some parts of the world can be challenging. Most people who complete a PDC and have the requisite 2+ years of experience choose to use their design skills on their own property and projects. A small percentage of trained designers are working part-time (and even fewer full-time) as Permaculture Designers – and we want to change that!

To improve the movement’s ability to respond to the growing demand for designers worldwide, Permaculture International College has created a new free global Permaculture Professionals Directory. This directory is ONLY for fully qualified people and actually working in Permaculture Design as Consultants, Teachers, Aid Workers. The directory improves the ability for people around the world to find and hire a Permaculture Designer.

In the past, there have been a few attempts at creating a quality directory. Still, all eventually became more “social” spaces and hosted members who run the range of experience and ability – from people mildly interested in Permaculture to home gardeners using some Permaculture techniques to those who are actively working in the field as teachers and consultants. The new directory at PermacultureEducation.org solves this problem by listing only professionals available for hire.

Permaculture Design is valuable! We have seen homes and farms that have been designed with Permaculture sell for 30-50% higher than the average market price because they have systems and elements already working and producing to meet people’s needs. With the growing exodus from cities, many more people are looking for country properties and increasing their level of self-reliance. City and suburb-dwellers are wanting to learn how to grow more of their own organic food. However, most know very little about designing the land, designing food production systems, designing off-grid/renewable energy systems, selecting species, designing earthworks, creating regenerative income streams, etc. If you are a certified and experienced Permaculture Designer, Teacher, Consultant, or Aid Worker, you can benefit greatly by joining the global directory of professionals.

The Permaculture Ambassador Program

Another benefit to the global Permaculture guild of the new directory is the new Permaculture Ambassador program. This program is for qualified Permaculture Designers who wish to become the “go-to” person for Permaculture Design in your area. Permaculture International College created this program as a vehicle for helping local Permaculture farms, sites, and projects attract students and visitors while also allowing the ambassadors to receive income for their efforts.

Permaculture Ambassadors are Permaculture Designers who agree to take on a leadership role in their local communities and regions. The Ambassador is responsible for professionally representing Permaculture Design and actively promoting Permaculture in their region. Ambassadors must hold an internationally recognized 72-hour Permaculture Design Certificate and have 2+ years of related experience. There can be more than one Permaculture Ambassador in a given town, city, or region. Ambassadors are responsible for creating a local Permaculture Guild (if one does not already exist), holding regular community meetings and talks on Permaculture, and promoting Permaculture in their communities. Ambassadors are the face of Permaculture in their communities! Ambassadors improve the visibility and accessibility of Permaculture by reporting on local Permaculture-related projects and happenings in their local towns, cities, and regions.

Benefits of being a Permaculture Ambassador: Ambassadors are paid a percentage of all local courses, workshops, and events that they help organize. They are also paid a percentage for referrals to online Permaculture courses. Permaculture Ambassadors receive access to training materials, resources, and events support to promote Permaculture Design in their area.

The Permaculture Education Affiliate Teacher Program

Qualified Permaculture Designers can make money helping students through the online PDC Course and other courses. The requirements for Affiliate Teachers include completion of an internationally recognized 72-hour PDC Course and 5+ years of experience in Permaculture Design. Affiliate Teachers will have a special designation on the Permaculture Education Directory that allows students to choose them as their instructor.

Benefits of being a Permaculture Education Affiliate Teacher: Affiliate Teachers receive a generous percentage of the course fees paid by students who select them as their teachers. The teacher will be provided with the course curriculum and materials needed for each course and assist students as necessary to make progress through the course.

To make a difference in the world, people need to be able to find and hire a Permaculture Designer in their area or fill a local project need. It is also necessary to create and support vehicles that create income streams for Permaculture Designers – allowing them to do the work they love while being paid as professionals. These goals are coming to fruition with the development of the first global Permaculture Professionals Directory.
