SUMMER FARM WORK AVAILABLE AT JUST ROOTS
Just Roots and the Greenfield Community Farm (Greenfield, MA) is seeking part-time farm help for the 2021 growing season. We are looking for responsible, hard-working, and enthusiastic people with whom to share the challenges and rewards of growing vegetables and building soil and community!
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:
- This job mainly consists of harvesting, weeding, planting, and basic production tasks on a small vegetable farm
- You will work in a group of about 3-10 people each shift, lead by one of our full-time farm crew members
- We will teach you the basics of each farm task and support you to improve your skills over the summer season
THIS IS THE RIGHT JOB FOR YOU IF YOU:
- Have an interest in farm work, plants and food!
- Enjoy working with other people—you will almost always be working in a small group setting
- Are resilient working outside in a range of temperatures while doing potentially physically uncomfortable tasks (working on your hands and knees for many hours)
REQUIRED SKILLS AND TOOLS:
Ability to show up on time every day and be excited about working for a farm that finds success in routine and structure
Reliable transportation for commuting to the farm
Communication
Ability to follow written and oral instructions and can be flexible with daily tasks
Community:
Desire to participate in the Just Roots community while at work—participate in daily morning meetings with the farm crew
Respect for a space that honors and uplifts all team members, especially LGBTQ2SI+ and Black, Indigenous and People of color.
Fitness:
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly
Ability and willingness to work in often uncomfortable physical positions for short or long periods of time and often for several consecutive days or weeks
Must be self-motivated and able to work outside in ALL weather conditions including snow, rain, heat and cold
Strong manual dexterity skills
TIMELINE + COMPENSATION:
START DATE: Monday, June 7th END DATE: Flexible (between end of August-mid September)
SCHEDULE: Monday-Friday 8am-12:30pm
COMPENSATION: $15/ hour + one CSA share
