Lead Instructor
The purpose of this position is to support the growth we are experiencing in demand for professional-level Permaculture Design training. Permaculture Education offers the official, internationally recognized 72-hour Permaculture Design Certificate Course (PDC), the official Introduction to Permaculture Design course, and other advanced courses in Ecological Design.
The position will involve teaching, marketing, and organizational duties while working closely with staff across the organization and with stakeholders around the world.
As part of a growing team working remotely from locations worldwide, the Lead Teacher/Instructor role will require a willingness to provide strategic thinking and leadership while maintaining a strong independent work ethic and accountability to the tasks and and responsibilities entrusted to the position.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the online PDC Course. This involves daily communications with students, interacting with our web developer to handle any technical issues, hosting webinars, and assisting Board Members in reviewing PDC Course Final Design Projects.
- Lead marketing and outreach efforts for the PDC Course. This involves working with colleagues to plan and implement effective marketing and communication campaigns, creating blog posts, posting on social media, and outreach to guild members and Permaculture organizations worldwide.
- Promote programs and engagement with the public for online and on-site courses and activities.
- Manage marketing and communications to ensure activities are delivered within budget.
- Manage website Learning Management System and online systems for efficient delivery of courses, blog, social media, and website features.
- Develop and maintain working relationships with new and existing partners, affiliates, and the public.
- Additional activities and responsibilities as is necessary to facilitate the needs of the overall organization.
Experience, knowledge, and skills:
- 72-hour Permaculture Design Certificate (PDC) from an internationally-recognized organization or teacher.
- Five or more years of experience in Permaculture Design Teaching, Consulting, Entrepreneurship, and/or Aid work.
- Excellent presentation skills and gregarious nature – comfortable on video and with public presentations. Ability to engage students and offer constructive assistance – making each student feel appreciated and heard.
- Excellent English writing and speaking skills. Fluency in languages other than English (preferred).
- Expertise in developing marketing and communications strategies.
- Knowledgeable in website management, blog management, and social media management.
- Ability to host webinars and record/edit video and audio presentations for publishing (preferred).
- Experience working with non-profits, private businesses, government entities, and the public is preferred.
- Strong interpersonal skills and presentation skills.
- Strong track record in building productive relationships with partners and stakeholders.

- Passionate about nature and the environment, and able to share that knowledge.
- Fully aware that Permaculture Design involves more than gardening and farming, is an integrated design system involving all aspects of human settlements, and not simply an agriculture/gardening set of methods/techniques.
- Resourceful and able to think creatively to get maximum value from a limited budget.
- Highly organized with great attention to detail.

Job Type: Full-Time or Part-Time – Remote (Work from Anywhere)
Salary: Base part-time salary + Commission based on activity (up to $30,000 USD in year 1, and increasing thereafter)
*This is a great opportunity to join a leading global Permaculture organization with unlimited potential. Although the starting pay is a small base salary plus commissions (percentage of sales) during the first year, we expect sales to increase rapidly along with the ongoing rollout of new courses and planned programs.
